Windows Vista Beta 2

Anyone tried it yet? It's free.

Using Vista right now. You need to update (maybe just some, i don't know) your programs to work with Vista. Vista blocked the installation of AVG and Avast had to be updated. I don't like IE7 with its intergrated search engine and tabs. Just a waste of real estate. I would prefer that they include key logging prevention instead.

Yes, and I like it, but a lot does not run on it, such as AIM, MANY games, disk burning software, drivers, etc. It shows potential.

However, what IS very disappointing is the new methodology for administration level access protection:

#1:

Your starter account is an admin account which is kinda bad, because people won't know any better, just like with XP.

#2:

In much software, such as a lot of games, only run in admin account level mode because of software protections.

#3:

The start admin account is evidently NOT like a full admin account. That level account is only accessed by booting into safe mode, and for some reason I can never create accounts at that level, alter accounts, or make a password for the safe mode level admin account. VERY annoying.

#4:

This is the worst thing:

Unlike Linux/Unix/BSD(?), Admin level access is only gotten through starting up to it. In other words, I cannot open a terminal window (for command line access) or any program and type in my admin password "on-the-fly" like I can with the Unix like OSs. This creates a major hassle and annoyance and constant rebooting, which will end up defeating the purpose of the new admin approach: people are going to just give up and only run in admin level mode, like I do, due to the annoyances.

Like, C'mon Redmond, you couldn't do any better? For Heaven's sake: You already have a good example: Linux etc. So why didn't you think of it???

Have anyone encountered problem with Windows WGA check?

To me it happen randomly, like I update my windows as usual, then sometimes out of the blue it says my Windows has been compromised...i.e not valid...

Im not sure whether its WGA bug because the error only occured about 2-3 weeks after installing the latest WGA patch... it is Windows XP Pro edition

PS : Before you ask me whether its a Pasar Malam version.. let me answer you... a BIG NO!
