mlegrand : I was looking into getting an HD STB and the lady at the local office told me I would have to call in and that mediacom would have to do a credit check as well as charge a deposit in order to rent a HD STB. Is this true?

If so this seems like such a pain as Time Warner Houston as well as other cable companies allow their customers to get a HD STBs for just the rental charge. I like having to avoid calling up MC at all costs.

Thanks.
