6Mb could be enough, if it was just better.

6Mb would be enough if one the bandwidth was actually symmetrical, the same up and down stream. Two there were no restrictions on it like most ISPs have now, blocked ports, hidden caps, etc. And three if the performance of the connection was closer to what one expects a business connection would get, ie 4 bonded T-1s.

Heck if those were true 3Mb would be plenty.

For the most part the continuing increase of downstream speed is just a marketing ploy.
Stop increasing the speeds and work at making a higher quality connection.

I would be happy to get 2MB symmetrical but three is good too.

Why only 2??? why not 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 like the dollar bills?
on second thought even near symetric is pretty good to me
say 1.5/768
3.0/1.5
6.0/3.0
10/5.0
now that's awesome and will suit everyone's needs

6.0/384k is very asymmetrical...
5/2 is somewhat symmetric somewhat asymmetric
15/2 is very asymetric
but 15/5 is not too shabby
so is 30/10 or 30/15

Yes. But once again the facts are that VERY FEW people really NEED such speeds for internet access uses, never mind that most websites cant download to you that fast to begin with, especially the buisy ones that restrict their bandwidth in the first place so as to serve more userd.

The only people that might need such speeds are those using bit torrent endlessly, people running servers, people connecting remote networks, perhaps, people telecommuting and gamers. The rest dont need such speeds and aren't willing to pay for speeds they dont use.

and, in any case, such internet access speeds are on top of and exclusive of bandwidth used for IPTV, etc.

having a bigger pipe is always better then having a smaller one like 512k/128k or 256k/128k that would get filled up easily
so you see my point?
give us 100/100 for 49.99 or 50/50 for 24.99
it's a dream pipe so let's make it a reality
networking is like snail mail compared to everything else on your computer that transfer hundreds of times faster
it will happen someday, if their is peace on earth
if their is no more war, unnecessary war cause by human stupidity or ignorant.

Sure go start up a company that deploys technology that allows your customers those speeds at those prices and let me know how unprofitable it will be.

War isnt keeping us from 100Mb internet connections.
