Re: [PAP2] Unlocking Guide - Part IITry then in WAN settings of your router static IP 216.115.24.45, SM: 255.255.255.0 GW:216.115.24.230 , DNS: 216.115.24.230 and put PAP2 address (192.168.2.3) in the demilitarized zone. Connect then your PC (change to static IP 216.115.24.230) using the crossover cable to the WAN of your router. To access PAP2 from the PC (like web interface - if you'll get there) you have to type 216.115.24.45 address on your web browser. |

I followed the procedure below till step 9 and have the unit unlocked with 3.1.9LSc on it. How do I downgrade? When I try to use tftp process outlined in the classic post 1, it does not work. I have also tried loading spa2K onto the unit and that did not work either.
Would ideally like to load 3.1.3 on this unit.
I have tried reading much of the original thread and must have missed the instructions. Please help. Thanks.
______________________ Quote: reply to rcilink I think this is something we haven't discuss clearly. So, it is good you asked. How can we reunlock the PAP2 when we know its GPP_K value?
The admin PW you see in the xml file will not work, because that PW changes after couple xml files and we don't know it. Also, because web server and admin access disabled, you won't have access to the PAP2. The best way for reunlocking 3.0.9 fw PAP2 is rewriting the xml file and feeding the PAP2 with your own Fonage xml file, where web server and admin access inabled and where the PWs are blank.
1- Open your plain text xml file 2- Change ONLY ONLY the following values: Enable_Web_Server from No to Yes Enable_Web_Admin_Access from No to Yes Admin_Passwd Just delete whatever is there and LEAVE-IT-BLANK User_Password Just delete whatever is there and LEAVE-IT-BLANK 3- Save the file as a different xml file. 4- This step is important: Use openssl to make another plain text xml file from original xml file you downloaded from Fonage. 5- Try this part until you successfully turn the encrypted xml file into plain text. 6- When you are successful, now encrypte the xml file you made the changes I explained above. 7- Now your own encrypted Fonage xml file is ready. 8- Use the DNS settings and TFTP and others. 9- When you see the PAP2 takes the xml file you created, then you will be able to login as admin. 10- When you login as admin, first, downgrade the fw to 3.1.6 or bellow. 11- when you have 3.1.6 fw, just factory reset it and reunlock it using classic unlocking method and your PAP2 will be free

Never mind. Seems like something went wrong with my tftp server. I switched to another computer and the firmware switch went fine - I actually went to SPA-1001 and able to configure two lines on line 1. Works nicely. Thanks for all the info in these posts. hi all, trying to unlock my PAP2 Firmware 3.1.9(LSc). I just downlaod my ENCRYPTED Config File from Vonage's TFTP server ,but I can't use openssl turn the encrypted xml file into plain text.could somebody help to post your plain text xml file and encrypte the xml file you made the changes ? why "openssl aes-256-cbc -e -in plaintext.xml -out encryptedfile.xml -k 1234abcd " and openssl aes-256-cbc -d -in encryptedfile.xml -out pkaintest.xml" doesn't work?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

in your computer, start--run ---cmd command "tftp -i ls.tftp.vonage.net GET spa.xml tftp -i ls.tftp.vonage.net GET /spa.xml tftp -i ls.tftp.vonage.net GET //spa.xml tftp -i 216.115.30.200 GET spa.xml tftp -i 216.115.30.200 GET /spa.xml tftp -i 216.115.30.200 GET //spa.xml" you will get your pap2 spa.xml from vonage's.also I get my 3.13 fireware after unlock and plain text with DPP-K. <flat-profile>

GOT VERY GOOD NEWS. well ill post as soon as I can the configuration of a PAP2 locked by a voip provider. Ill get the pass for technical issues so I would know if this would be helpfull. I should say that the device is working with iconnecthere and the version is 3.1.9c My thought is that if I can get the pass and log in, is there a posibility that someone can figure out how to unlock them without having to ask the pass to the voip provider? Thanks |

There is no guarantee, but if you save the web pages (especially provisioning, system and line1 tabs) there could be hope. |

Please help. I have a PAP2 that was previously unlocked(Thanks to this link). And my cousin tried doing the same thing with his PAP2. Unfortunately, he accidentally took my unlocked PAP2 and did a factory reset ****73738 #1 which is ok. To make it worst, he hooked it up to the internet, so my PAP2 device went back to vonage (locked). Now, I can't even get to the web interface and whenever I tried doing this ****73738, it will give me a busy signal. I think the device is screwed. Is there a way to undo everything? Please help. thanks

If you remembered to record the PAP2's GPP_K value when you first unlocked it, it's a fairly easy task to unlock it again. |

I just hope you have saved a copy of your PAP2's factory default GPP_K values (the encryption key), haven't you? With the GPP_K values, you can prepare your own XML file to feed your PAP2 to get it unlocked. But, first you will need to factory reset the PAP2. There has been a lot of mentions about the user's password assigned by Vonage for a PAP2 provisioned by Vonage. Use one of those user password to see if it can factory reset your PAP2. Also, you may want to read all the posts in this thread and its predecessor thread. You'll learn a lot from reading those posts! |

and How to make use of this GPP_K to unlock it again, if necessary.

How can I read the GPP_K value from unlocked pap2 ? First, go to the fist post on the thread and click the link that points to the original thread. Read some of the posts in the thread and you will find out how to get the GPP_K values off your unlocked PAP2. |

I got a busy signal sometimes when PAP2 had a network connection - put only the phone cable then the power cable (no network) and try ****73738 again (and again). |

Hi, I am in the same situation that you were. I had my Gpp k values and decrypted the XML from VOnage. The thing is that my web server was not disabled. I can log in as user with password 1234. When I try to do a factory reset with the phone it doesnt ask me for a pass, it just says press 1 to accept and cuts. What Should I do next?

You should read the previous posts, the answer is there ! So, you are able to log as user but not as admin and your firmware version is 3.1.9c, right ? Then you decrypt xml file using the GPP_K (you already did that), change some settings like enable web server and admin password. Re-encrypt the xml file and using a setup with a DNS and TFTP server in a local network, feed that xml file to your PAP2 adapter. |

I did all that. When I power cycle the PAP2 it doesn't look for the XML file in the TFTF root folder. I don't see nothing in the Solar Winds log screen. It does nothing. I disabled firewalls, I am using a router. Could it be that with 3.1.9 Lsc it does not look for the XML anymore? SOme peole have said that.
Thanks |

I have my adapter unlocked and at rev 3.1.13 with user and admin level passwords set.
Is there any way to do the following now or during unlocking process for future PAP2:
A. The unit cannot be factory reset-ted with out admin level access. In other words, the factory reset never happen with only user level access known.
B. In my understanding, only way factory reset can happen is when I can get into IVR, do 73738# and then 1# ?
C. Can I program (now or during future un-locking process)the PAP2, so it cannot be factory reset-ted at all ? Make it idiot proof ?
Thanks |

Read through all the messages but could not locate it. I know you do not like to spoon feed, but it would be appreciative if you could assist further.
Many Thanks |

I am lost!
I have no luck unlocking a virgin PAP2 3.1.9LSc. Here are what I did:
1. download spaxxxxxx.xml from vonage 2. setup tftp server listening on port 69 and a web server (DNS spoofed to my laptop for both ls.tftp.vonage.net and httpconfig.vonage.net) 3. stored spaxxxxxx.xml in tftp server access directory 4. Stored the patched 2.0.9d sp2k firmware as pap2 3.1.9 LSc firmware
Upon powerup, PAP2 ate the vonage downloaded xml file. However, it immediately asked for /yyyy/spaxxxxxx.xml. So I created the yyyy dirctory copy the same spaxxxxxx.xml file into it for tftp. Powered cycle it, it ate both spaxxxxxx.xml (identical) files.
It asked for the DNS entry of the httpconfig.vonage.net. However, it only sent an tcp syn packet to port 80 of my web server but not grabbing any file at all.
Then, it asked for the /yyyy/spaxxxxxx.xml again on port 21 with tftp. I then setup another tftp server listening on port 21 with the same /yyyy/spaxxxxxx.xml in it. Well, after it ate all three identical files, it just sit there doing nothing.
I tried a couple of factory resets, same result.
Any help is appreciated. |
