Amerika Off Line

I am glad this is going around. Colleague just asked me if I heard about "Vincent" on TV and radio. I'm like, no, I listen to my iPod and only watch netflix (and read BBR). So now I see this link and hey, about time someone got the picture out. AOL (and other customer support lines...aka Verizon DSL and Cell call centers...) needs a good black eye.
I've a client whose mother needed my help. I find she is on AOL dialup. She is 70 yrs old. Good for her that she can email photos to family, send emails, surf for recipes... However, I explain she can do that for less and faster with DSL ($18 vs $25). She kinda scoffs at saving $7/month for hassle to have to give new email to family. I explain, you just email everyone from your AOL acct the new address, then disconnect AOL service.

There are many folks that just don't get it...they won't give up AOL until they hear from a friend...its no good. Who cares ifthey don't have your email. Just keep intouch from new one...

Too bad in 6 months, AOL will have spun some marketing and most will forget about this.
