I believe AOL only fired this guy cause it made it to all the news outlets, basically making him the scapegoat. Hard to believe the CSR would do what he did if AOL didn't encourage there CSR's to do it. |

Tim618 join:2003-10-14 Garrettsville, OH | This is why i hate AOL i never put there service on my computer becaue you are forced to at least open their browser, and they have a lot of spyware in their software. Obviously there tech support is crap, that pisses me off just listening to that. Earthlink isn't much better. My grandfather had me call to cancel his earthlink when he got dsl, and they weren't so bad, i had to spend about 10 minutes on the phone, but apparently they call him once a week still to get him to sign up for 28.8k service for 16.95 a month, when he's getting 3 meg dsl for 22.99. lol. Idiots. |

They did offer me a retention deal but, I said no one time and they were like OK. They were really nice. Every once in a while...not too often, I get a mailing from EarthLink offering some special deal or bundle deal if I come back to EL. Other than that, nothing, I don't get any phone calls. Wait, only one time I did. I can't remember how long ago that was. My eperience with EL was good.
As for AOL, LOL. I seriously hope that no one was surprised by this. It is well known by many people all over that AOL is notorious for doing this crap and not cancelling accounts. That has been going on for years. I really wish someone would put AOL in their place for this. |

 | This was similar to my experience with NetZero. While I hated their dial-up service, I have to compliment them for how easy it was to cancel, and how I only got like one phone call after about 6 months asking me to return.
I never used AOL, but most people I know have used it at one point or another. |

When I had to cancel PeoplePc due to DSL becoming available, the CSR simply asked "What is the reason for cancelling this account", or something similar to that, and she simply replied with an understanding "OK", and that was it. No more bills, no phone calls, or emails requesting membership.
All we recieve from them is the occasional setup CD in the mailbox... |
