I use Sharazza from time to time (no laughing it works for me). The other day I decided to try it and using torrents, apparently this is possible. I had no success, nothing every happened d/l. Is there some magic step I am missing??

Torrents never work.
Never donwload anything, always searching or down tracker etc...... Its like there are a gazillion links and none are active... meanwhile on sharazza all the regular single file downloads/searches work well.

I get this on my shareaze startup. Maybe due to this downloads are laughably slow.

I am on 256 dsl but it seems like I am on 14.4 k dialup on shareaza.

I tried utorrent and though it was no great shakes either, atleast it was a little faster than shareaza. I checked the port forwarding bit on it and it seemed to be working.

The problem in utorrent is that it is uplaoding twice the speed at which is downloading stuff. It's like I give and give and give and inb return what do I get? NOTHING!

also, searching for torrents is a pain.

seriously, I have been very disappointed with p2p. If these are the speeds on broadband, god help those who are on dialup!

Not only that, I get down trackers, queued but no sources, oh yes and the searching bull as well (and I do pick top rated ones (most seeds etc...).

Thus I come to the same conclusion torrents suck.

Im not sure if I read that right but this seems like a case of User Error here. If you send me the Torrent File it will probably work just fine for me.

I dont see why you would say Torrents suck because of this.

Re: Torrents and Sharazza

Where are you searching for torrents? With Shareaza? I pick good ones from Mininova--clicking to download the link given in Mininova I get a prompt asking if I want to open file--then Shareaza opens asking me if I want to download. Works fine for me.
Also--did you set a folder for your torrents to go into?
Thirdly--a torrent can have thousands of users-----80 percent of them leechers----and very few seeders. That means very few have the whole file. Torrents like these can take forever.
That said--just got a nasty letter about infringement of a copyright.

Some trackers banned Shareaza, you might want to try another BT client like BitSpirit.

LOL. First, spit on it, it'll caml your nerves. 2nd, shoot a email with said letter attached to Pirate Bay (and w.e. their email addy is), they'll more then likely give you a hilarious response to shoot back at the goonz that sent you the letter, if you so choose.

I've downloaded a torrent or two with Shareazza and never had a problem. Make sure the appropriate ports are forwarded through your firewall/router.

I'm on a NAT connection but I forward the recommended ports through my Linux firewall and it works fine.

Forward port 6346(default) in your router for Shareaza, then try this torrent:
»torrent.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/stats.···d9ac2d76

It does ok.

I recently have uninstalled ZAF to try COMODO PF. I can not get it to let shareaza through. I have port forwarding on my router set up ok. It still works but very slow. I exit CPF and it works again. I set it up in CPF programs but still blocks it. Anyone else had this problem?

I recently posted here about strange IP addresses coming up in searches. The consensus was that these are private network Ips and behind a router--therefore unaccessible?
Perhaps the router needs to be taken out when using P2P?
