here is the fft, the waveform, and the filtered sound. i was actually wrong, it seems centered around 9600Hz. strange, though, it shows up on the right channel before it shows up on the left, and it peaks in a strange way on the left.

shrug. i might look to see if this is a harmonic of some kind, but from what i saw, it isn't.

i seem to remember 9600Hz being something telephone related...

That's the sound my LCD monitor makes when changing resolutions. Don't know if that helps.

That filtered sound sounds like a sound from my childhood. On my grandpa's farm there was an electric line running to the pump at the pond. Every summer on a warm day the line would sing with a sound just like that, only much louder. It didn't seem to sound when there was a load on the line. It only sounded when the pump wasn't on. The pump was the only thing on that line and it was a "real" line from the electric company, not some homemade strung up thing.

Doubt this helps the discussion any, just odd musings.

That's data. Almost like a Xdsl modem training. Maybe SCADA.

A modem eh?

Are there, by any chance, any internet providers in the region conducting BPL trails?
