Re: DI-624 c - NEW FIRMWARE 2.75b2 said by biiqydanz:nice session man.. yea im gonna give the b10 a try but 2.42 has been great for me but i assume this b10 is better 2.71b10 and b11 still have the remote exploit vulnerability. If 2.42 is working well for you, I don't see the point of upgrading unless it's to add a new feature or to fix a security issue. |

That's funny we experience the exact opposite behavior (my Windows shared folders disappear after some time with 2.75b2 but not with 2.71b11).
Anyone else rely on Windows shared folders on their network? It would be nice to know what your experiences with the 2.71 and 2.75 firmwares have been as well. |

 | reply to peter_m Hello,
The New Firmware 2.75b2 dont works correctly, i got Problems to confiure the Wireless Menue all other Menues Works.
So i upgrade to the older Version 2.59b3 and the problem was history.
So i better wait for the next version.

 | reply to JTS33 what exploit vulnerbility?
if i put the block request option on the router doesnt that eliminate the exploit issue? |
|
 | reply to peter_m Is everybody having the wireless problems?
I'm sort of a newbie with router issues, can someone suggest the one that has the most stability/most security?
The most usage I have for my router is torrent downloads, so I hog a lot of bandwidth most of the time it's on. |

Also don't try to re-import older saved settings from previous firmwares. |

| reply to biiqydanz said by biiqydanz:what exploit vulnerbility? if i put the block request option on the router doesnt that eliminate the exploit issue? That would be from this thread here: »Remotely Exploitable Vulnerability In All D-Link Gateways
Most home users are unaffected by it(except the ones that leave their AP open). The exploit is only workable if someone is able to log onto your network from the LAN side, the WAN side is unaffected to the exploit.
However for corporate networks with low (physical) security in the building this could be a huge problem. Any doof could plug into an ethernet jack and hijack their stuff.
Ok enough from me in this thread, I don't want it to seem I am trying to hijack it lol. |

 | reply to peter_m If anyone has a Mac, can you verify whether the new firmware fixes the bug from 2.71 where Printer Sharing does not work over wireless? I'm specifically talking about USB Printer Sharing - under 2.71, a shared printer connected to a wired computer is not visible to wireless computers. Under 2.42, for example, everything works as expected. Does 2.75b2 fix this bug? |
|
 | reply to peter_m I upgraded from 2.70 which wasnt working for me.
now my router i think is pretty much not working anymore. internet doesnt work for even the computer connected directly to the router. And I cant access the 192.168.0.1 router menu. so i cant revert to the older firmware? |
|
 | geestring, try poking the reset "button" and hold it down for like 20 sec. that should reset you router's settings to the default. |
|
 | reply to peter_m just did that. looks like everything is in order. but the internet wont work... maybe the foirmware killed it. |

Here is what I did:
1- Heatsink and thermal grease on the main Atheros Chip (hottest) 2- Did the same to the small chip under the metal grill (second hottest) 3- Stand the router on it's side 4- Break open all the small vents on the edge of the router's case 5- Reset to factory defaults 6- Update to 2.75b2 firmware 7- Reset to factory defaults 8- Configured router to my taste
From what I've noticed, it could be that the connections table clears the older connections faster cause I can't seam to generate more then 430 concurrent connections. All this while GAMING MODE is ENABLED. Will post back with my detailed settings when I break the 48h mark.
EDIT: Port forwarding is working with software VoIP and BitTorrent |

peter_mPremium join:2005-07-13 Canada, QC 2 edits | Well, I use a wired router that has a built-in print server to share a printer. It has manually assigned LAN IP and it disappears within 2 hours after the di-624 has been switched on. Just like your shared folder. Now... will Dlink fix this? Can we find a workaround in the meat time? |
