Re: To block that port...

no_coin is this for the .80 or for the "official" older version? I am still running the old official firmware and I followed all the steps. Still the port shows open. Thank you!

It is for the official version. But I just installed the unofficial 45.80.2 version and it also blocks the port with the filtering method mentioned earlier.

I am not sure what I am doing differently but I cannot close the port. I followed all the steps you laid out but the port still shows up in scans. Does anybody else had success in closing the port? Thank you!

The main fix is for a MoCA incompatibility. So, current Actiontec users with FiOS TV should not have any issues with STB's pulling IP's. The temporary workaround was to install a NIM (like is required with the D-Link's). This new firmware fixes the MoCA issues.

i just want to say thank you very much for making this file available.

you just cured a huge headache of mine.

the idiots at verizon voicewing were completely unable to make my call waiting work properly with my actiontec mi424wr fios router.

they tried everything they knew how to do and couldn't fix it.

the trouble ticket remained open until i fixed it myself by updating the firmware then port forwarding the voicewing protocol selection over to my phone adapters ip address.

poof walla.....everything is working now!

btw.....verizon customer service and their automated menu sucks beyond all possible comprehension.

hey all..
I updated to the 80.2 version, but ran into a problem at the login screen (which now looks different). My user name password does not work now, and neither does the 'default' username/password listed in the manual..

anyone have an idea whats going on with it?

thanks..

You tried admin=admin password=password ?
if that does not do it then do a hard reset.
it will promt you to change the password the 1st time you log in.

Thanks for this thread

Had my install on 14th, we had a couple of problems but it is working. Finally got to run PingPlotter on it yesterday and of course nothing happened, no data. Found the v4.0.16.1.45.80.2 firmware in this thread, uploaded it and now I have tracert.

Did not have any password problems with the router, all settings remained.

user/pass of "admin/password" did not work.. and my original user/pass still didnt.. so I just did a 'factory reset' and it came up with the default user/pass, and of course had to reconfigure stuff..
but tracert does work for me as well..

thanks.

Re: To block that port...

Well, I don't know exactly what port you are talking about -- I didn't have it open neither in original version nor in 45.80 nor in 45.120. The only difference I can notice that I went into Advanced/Remote Administration and disabled Allow Incoming UDP Traceroute Queries -- it's a *nx style of traceroutes -- and it was enabled by default.
