Whittier, AK | Nice rumor but won't happen. NEWS Corp. buying DTV and DTV trying to buy Echostar are not comparable. When Echostar tried to buy DTV it would have shrunk the choices for customer from 2 satellite providers to 1. That didn't fly with Justice or FCC. NEWS Corp. came in and purchased DTV and you still had 2 satellite providers. As much as some here want to believe that all mergers will get green lighted, I can tell you DTV would not get approval to buy Echostar from FCC or Justice department. It would only leave one choice of satellite providers for customers and that won't fly.
