WGR614 v6 newest firmware?

I got one of these free from Dell and it lists the firmware as v2.0.13_1.0.13NA...on Netgear's site however, it lists "1.0.11" as the newest...is it possible my new router has a newer firmware that is not on their site or am I not seeing something on their site?

ask Dell if they have a 'customized' firmware for the routers they distribute before you try and flash the firmware...

No I don't think it's a special version at all. Found mention of it over on an Intel page too: »www.intel.com/cd/pvp/rml/asmo-na···tfrmId=3

Of course trying to ask Netgear about this was an exercise in futility. "We only have 1.0.11 on our website, if there was a newer one we'd put it on there." Well you know what, that's b.s. as there clearly is a 2.x branch of firmware for their WGR614v6 in various territories yet not one of them have it on their respective websites.

It's like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. They're shipping new WGR614v6 units with the 2.0.13 firmware but lets all existing WGR614v6 users twist in the wind with the old 1.0.11.

Can you provide a screenshot showing the router's name and firmware revision? I want to throw this in the face of those morons running support over at Netgear who insist that there is no 2.0.13 for the WGR614v6.

I think it's obious if one follows the Intel link provided:

Description
NETGEAR's* 54 Mbps Wireless Router lets you experience the blazing-fast network wireless speeds of 54 Mbps — up to five times faster than the popular 802.11b wireless network.
Hardware/Firmware
v6 / 2.1.3GR_2.1.3

Click on the + next to "Product Details". He could of doctored a screenshot.. hehehe. A lot easier than hacking intel's website.

Just bought one of these yesterday at Circuit City. It has the same firmware version on it. How can it have a firmware thats not found on the netgear support site?

I've tried continuing my fight with Netgear's CS, but the asshats still insist that 2.0.13 doesn't exist for the WGR614v6 and want *me* to provide proof that it does. How fucked up is that? They won't admit to it's existance or look into it at all simply because it isn't currently posted on their website so they ask me to prove them wrong. I'm about fed up with this P.O.S. company...

I really hope they get this firmware out soon. The idle timeout is brutal and aggrivating.

This is the kind of stuff that happens when a company sells a product that is manufactured for them by a no-name Taiwanese company with firmware programmed by Taiwanese programmers.

Netgear probably has no idea what is in the boxes they are shipping out to stores & distribution centers.

I got this router from Dell with a laptop purchase on 6/20/06.

Firmware is V1.0.11_1.0.7NA

Everything seems fine, I'm not sure I understand the point of this thread. Somebody get a newer firmware version in the same time period from the same source?

Netgearer

@cox.net

I also have WGR614v6 with 2.0.13 firmware. My friend has WGR614v6 with 1.0.11 firmware. Mine with 2.0.13 is rock stable. The on with with 1.0.11 has intermittent connection problems.

I also e-mailed support and they said it is not available. I don't know what the heck is wrong with them. The new firmware would fix all the problems everyone has been having with the 1.0.11 firmware.

The 1.0.11 firmware has been junk for me.

Let's see:

1. 10 minute connection timeout that cannot be disabled or modified. Total inconvenience for SSH users who don't want to hassle with no-ops.

2. Wireless Internet throttling. Completely hidden and undocumented. My laptop can FTP transfer to and from a Linux server I have on my LAN wirelessly at roughly 16mbps reliably. All my wired systems can download from the internet at approximately 6mbps, which is what I'm provisioned at by Cox. So somebody please tell my why my laptop can only get 2mbps per connection to the internet when it can get 16mbps to the LAN. To make things even more obviously lame, I can start 4 downloads and total 6mbps to my laptop.

3. The readme and release notes for the released GPL source of a WGR614v4 firmware (I have a v6) have internet slang such as 'u' and 'r' spattered amidst broken english. Not exactly a technical issue, but pretty sad.

To make a long story short, if I don't see a new firmware soon I'm going to Office Space this one, never buy Netgear again, and find my crimpers to make a nice long cable to my BEFSR41.

Any updates with this issue? I am in the same boat. The 10 minute timeout is an absolute nightmare. I can't believe you cannot turn it off!

Where is this 2.x firmware? I seriously doubt that Netgear would hide it from us. What would they have to gain by doing so? In fact, they will get more returns and phone calls if they don't post the upgrade. So what gives?

I bought my WGR614 through newegg about a week ago, but it had the 1.07 firmware on it. (I upgraded to 1.0.11.) So just because you order a new one from newegg doesn't mean that you'll get the right firmware. Just so you are aware.

Anybody who finds the new firmware please post it here ASAP.

I sent cuttle's screenshot to the specific Netgear rep "helping" me with this issue and never got a reply. For the most part, they still insist that 2.x for the WRG614v6 doesn't exist despite the concrete evidence to the contrary. Netgear has their head so far in the ground it isn't even funny anymore.
