New bioses are being released at a fevered pace, gradually bringing in the more advanced features like overclocking and memory timings adjustments. The 965 series chipset has no limits as you describe. I would hazard a guess, like virtually all new mobo series, that bios revisions will continue to mature for months after the board's release.

That being said, I went with an Abit AB9, since all i could pick up yesterday was the cheaper Conroe. Abit has struggled this past year, have received some much needed funding in a partnership with USI, allowing them hopefully to get back to it's core products, enthusiast boards.

I have yet to read anything on how well the Conroes handle memory in async mode. We may have been spoiled with the P4 architecture with it's long memory pipelines and it's ability to run memory at much higher bus speeds than the cpu would run.

Paul
--
Co-owner, the Group of 10
