| Red lining plane and simple The city is cherry picking and providing fiber to a profitable area. They should be forced to provide fiber to the swamps and bayous. Verizon has the cost of FIOS down to about $1500 per premise. The city is spending $2783 per premise. I would sue too. |

 | "The city is spending $2783 per premise"-- I'm curious, where did you obtain these dollar amounts.
Check this link for a map of the city of Lafayette which shows the fiber ring already in place (and in use). I don't believe the term cherry picking applies--

The city is cherry picking by only supplying fiber to the city. The city is not going to supply fiber to the swamps. If a telco wanted to do that it would be called red-lining/cherry picking. |

zitch join:2002-07-08 Lafayette, LA 1 edit | Let's see, I know of one small "swamp" (more like a pond) that resides in the middle of the local campus. I doubt the 4-5 alligators and dozens of goldfish (Add: And the turtles. Can't forget them!) there would mind not getting fiber. Outside of that, I'm not sure. Then again, I might have missed it living in Lafayette for the past few decades...
Is there any specific swamp that you know of in the city of Lafayette? Or are you just spewing out factless arguments against the fiber plan? |

If towns like Lafayette can cherry pick the best areas to fiber who is going to fiber the rest of the state? The swamps I am talking about is LOUISIANA. |
