Mountain View may be an exception if only because it's home base...and a nice showcase.<br><br>Earthlink is already positioning muni WiFi (and WiFi telephony), so there is some demand for public/private partnership as well as independent competitors.<br><br>And yes, I sadly suspect you're correct in assuming the ILECs will fight tooth and nail. I just think there are lots of states and municipalities that may not like the idea of free wifi competition.  I think they may end up with tons of roadblocks locally.  See Verizon's NJ battle.  Different service, but same type of problem.]]></description>
