who are these people...

who are these people who are always saying cingular service is good? they do in their commercials, saying national surveys say so... what national surveys? I've never met anyone who thought they had good customer service.

cingular has the WORST customer service in the industry. Their reps are so useless, I have to demand a supervisor every time I call them. Then they always transfer you 300 times, and try to say "that's not the right phone number, its this number instead..." . I swear I must have a log of about 30 different phone numbers that were supposedly for the same thing.

also... they're now going to rename Cingular to AT&T Wireless???? Geez, make up their minds!!!

That's the 64 Million Dollar Question, right there. I've called CS about 15 times, and only about 3 of those calls I got someone who actually gave a damn(or acted like it anyway).

Might as well just call them Ma Bell Wireless. 'Cause that's what I foresee.

You people just love finding something to complain about. People who are using analog phones, should switch to digital phones. This is the 21st century you know? Cingular is losing money on these analog customers. If you ran a company, and were losing money on someone who could upgrade, you'd charge them too. You people need to learn how to run a company before complaining. Cingular might not have the best customer service, but they have the best cell company out there. If you don't like Cingular, you can switch to Verizon and buy one of their crippled phones, no one will care.

first of all, we're not talking about ONLY analog phones here. they're also charging TDMA (digital) customers fees if they don't "upgrade" ...

uhh... why dont' they GIVE them a digital phone? even if its an old/used one, surely they have enough of them laying around, right? also, maybe their consumers are uneducated that they can probably get a new phone for free anyway, if they sign a new contract. if Cingular was a good company, they'd give them a new phone for free without requiring them to sign a contract (but perhaps with a clause saying they will charge them for the phone if they terminate early or don't return the phone)...

I think more people are upset about them forcing TDMA to be "upgraded" to GSM phones than there are analog people complaining. the people who are still using analog probably just don't know any better but would upgrade if they were simply told to. (not to mention, they would save a LOT Of money, since they're probably on very old expensive phone plans that don't even exist anymore... 500 anytime minutes for $99/mo, anyone?). there are a number of people who think that somehow their TDMA phone is better than a GSM, even though they use the same frequencies and at this point more of it is partitioned for GSM than TDMA.

I'm complaining because I am a digital customer, who uses a GAIT phone as a back-up to makeup for a spotty GSM network in my area. And I seriously doubt that Cingular is losing much money on Analog and TDMA customers. Considering that in my area, they actually crippled the TDMA towers last year, just to get more GSM subscribers, which actually made them lose customers, because of the underdeveloped GSM network. And as for switching to Verizon, that'll be a cold day in hell before I ever give them one red cent.

It appears Cingular is below the national average, and is ahead of only Sprint, when it comes to customer satisfaction.

I have Cingular TDMA. I pay $30 per month for 250 minutes and NEVER come CLOSE to using them all. I have not made a Customer Service call in at least 4 years on this plan. They are definitely making a profit on me.

I dont object to them shutting down old technology and replacing it with new - thats life. Heck, I wouldnt even mind having one of those newfangled phones that fold up.

What I OBJECT to is being treated like dirt, by their not coming out and saying "please switch" (which would be identified by offers of new phones and plans to replace mine) instead of saying "F-you and the horse you rode in on" with this BS fee out of nowhere.

I doubt very much that they expect more than a tiny percentage to pay the fee, they just want us non-talkers to take a hike.
