| cingular offers analog? I think I agree with that other guy towards the top about the article being wrong, as cingular no longer even offers amps service to my knowledge. They might be talking about TDMA, which sucks just as bad as GSM (from a coverage standpoint).
CDMA/AMPS all the way!
PS, AMPS may be old and outdated and lower quality, but, it is trusty, and reliable! Always there! also, AMPS generally has better coverage than any digital protocol. |
| Nope, they still have people on TDMA & Analog service. The reference is to legacy service still provided. As I understand it though, they are all via roaming agreements with the analog part. There is still native Cingular TDMA though. Also, some Cingular customers on GSM plans (like myself) have a feature called GAIT which allows me to access all three networks (native, or roaming partners), GSM, TDMA & AMPS. It came in handy when I went out west, and still comes in handy when in some more rural parts of the upper midwest when I'm travelling/vacationing. Only on two handsets, the Nokia 6340i and the Sony-Ericsson T62u.
