 | Amused I wonder how the hosts of Kittenwar like the traffic? Still..just lock it down. And yeah, I wouldn't refer them to pr0n. Maybe some site that pushes malware... |

If I could figure out how to let passersby utilize "some" of my bandwidth, without giving them all my pipe, nor letting them get to pr0n sites and p2p, etcetera... then I would do so... Any ideas? Anyone?
I would, ideally, like for them to do a "courtesy" registration, just so I could keep some kind of stats... I don't mind sharing because "sharing is caring", but I would like to protect myself at the same time...
I have Verizon DSL, with a Wirespeed 327 Modem/Wireless Router. I currently have the wireless disabled.
Down is 3Mb/s, up is 768kb/s, so I think FTP might be out as well... I'm quite well protected by firewall and anti-virus, and I know how to mitigate any network hazards, so I'm not too worried about that; not that I would reject out-of-hand any advice in that arena...
I'm not stingy... So shoot me. I guess I'm going the opposite direction of the guy in the article.
Cheers. -- Who is "Roger?", and why is everybody saying his name on the radio? |

 | Me too. If I found something like that I'd go for it. |

Radio ActiveMy pappy's a pistolPremium join:2003-01-31 Fullerton, CA | On second recollection, I have a Microsoft MN-500 wireless router. I'll have to look up the instructions, but I think I can add that to the Wirespeed router as an AP. Maybe I can do this after all... -- Who is "Roger?", and why is everybody saying his name on the radio? |

In the time since I posted,
"NOT ONE WIRELESS STATION HAS CONNECTED!" Oh, well... So, in the interest of keeping the R.F. spectrum clear, I have decided to take it down...
I guess my router/WLAN is okay, after all... Your mileage may will vary... Cheers. -- "Gimme a 'C'! A bouncy 'C'! There once was a boy from Nantucket whos 'Da Da Da Dee Dee Dee' whatever the hell else you want..." |
