BUT try and do any type of DNS query, or connect to anything, and your not going anywhere....
try going to any webpage and you get my captive portal. It's basically a nice way of saying "f*ck off!", but with a username/password prompt. I find it very easy. Once you authenticate to my router, you then have 150kb/150kb access to the net (PLENTY for the quick times i need to use it). If i need to get into my LAN or DMZ, then i start up openvpn (installed on all my laptops). This will let me into my LAN, and redirect all traffic through VPN - which is not speed limited.
I don't care at all about encryption, as i don't do any financial or anything i need to worry about someone getting my information over my wifi network. But again, if i need to, i use the VPN. |
