I had Verizon in past years and it was unreliable--plus their customer service just reeked. And I dont have a land line anymore :) (do they do naked DSL?) Spotty coverage, slow speeds and packet loss. While these wifi networks can be used for checking email and other non-demanding tasks, they really aren't something you can use for everyday activities like downloading files and playing online games.

Last I checked, there are some wireless ISP options available in the LB area. If you're truly interested, you might want to check into them.

City politicians are like lemmings - they will play follow the leader as they plunge off the cliff. Other cities are doing it, so they have to too - even if it will barely work. After all, the city isn't paying for it, so they have nothing to lose and a lot of good PR to gain.
