Market share

When you consider that mac has a 5% share of the market it should be obvious why they are being ignored. It simply costs too much to support them. Like it or not it's a Windows world.

WOW!! That's even worse than I thought.

Getting rid of the clone market was the stupidest thing Steve Jobs ever did. He could have had a real Windows killer but instead he chose to keep an iron fist on the Mac platform by killing third party innovation. Competition would have forced Microsoft to be more innovative to the benefit of both PC and Mac users.

IDC or Gartner had them at ~ 4% last quarter. They are the #5 computer vendor in the USA.

Wow, that's...less than impressive.

Nope.. not at their prices.

Sorry, my opinion (and as much as I hate windows) is that MACS are for spoiled brats that are willing to pay a premium price for a computer that's only worth half what they want for them.

I guess Mac figures that if their customer base can afford to sit at Starbucks and pay $5.50 for a coffee drink, or an over priced Volkswagon, or live in over priced inner metro cities, they can afford an overpriced piece of hardware too.

Then I guess they can also purchase their own add-ons for their comptuers as well and not worry about the freebees. MAC people pretty much treat their computers better than their own families and don't like to be told what to put on their computer.

(Now, would the small handfull of MAC users that don't fit the at-large description of a MAC user flame this post please?)

Nope.. I sure don't.. it's not a general statement.. sorry.

Even some of my best friends fit this category. I've met TONS of Mac people in my day and many people I know say the same thing about the Mac people they run accross...

Sorry, even Apple agrees with me. Do you have any idea who they market their product to?

So yea.. I guess I do generalize much.

Sir,

I am a 64 yr. old lady.
First Mac purchased in 1997. Also use Apple Base Station.
Yes Mac's are pricey. I do my own tech stuff, have
installed items on the mother board. Configured the
Apple Base Station to route my DSL internet and have
easily added a Toshiba PC running Windows Xp to my
Wireless Network.

My present Mac purchased in 1998, I still am using it.
I find Mac OS to be easier to work with, find everything
if I manually uninstall software, etc.

My DSL is through SBC/AT&T, since 2001, I have to be
techy with the Mac, as they offer little to no
support for Mac users.

In my opinion, as they did know I used a Mac when I
signed up for the service and did my own install etc.
They should provide reasonable, credible Mac Tech
Support.

As for the "Free Protection Software" I do not miss
all of that, and anyone downloading it or the yahoo
toolbar, check your computer for malware.

I do understand the type of Mac user you refer to as
Spoiled Brats, they hurry and buy every new thing
that comes out.

The Mac Addict type user, close minded as I read here
no need for Anti-Virus software, no need for Anti-Spyware
etc. they do not add anything regarding those who
still say Macs suck.

No need to detail more, except for a funny for all,
I recently purchased the only Anti-Spyware for Mac
that I had problems finding, LOL it is a lousy app.,
Crashes the Mac constantly.

Point being, I do believe Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus
applications are needed. Two Mac notebooks less now,
due to hacking type Trojan in 2005. The addicts, still
are going to say oh no, a false positive, sorry not so.

Just hope to add a bit of sensible info.

J.M.
