Re: I have a question for any and all MODS/HOSTS said by Sir Joseph: That's good to know. I am so scared to ever use that button because I am afraid that I will be overreacting and crying wolf.
As I said elsewhere (and being lazy will retype rather than trying to find) the "hey mods" button provides feedback to the user/pusher. You click "hey Mod!" on a message. One of six things will happen:
The message will be vaporized -- gone without a trace. The message will be sent to Post Jail. The message thread will be locked. The message will be "edited by moderator." Nothing will happen to the message or thread. A host/moderator will reply to the message.
In the first four cases you 'hey mod' produced a required action and was a good 'hey mod'. It enables the hosts and moderators to watch the site without having to read every single one of the thousands of daily posts.
In the last two cases your 'hey mod' did not produce the actions you thought it would and thus was a mistaken 'hey mod' -- you need to lighten up and get a little more tolerant. -- Telecommunications installation and maintenance since 1966 |
