Re: i wait They won't try to mandate a tax on CD-R's in the U.S. because they did it in Canada and they're not happy! The problem was that the tax was implimented based on the idea that people were making copies of music. As a result of that tax, copying CD's in Canada is perfectly legal! The only way that they can make it illegal is if they give back they money that they had collected up till now.
As a result, most of my friends have extensive music collections that the RIAA can't do much about. They keep trying to do media campaigns about how evil WE are, but they aren't getting anywhere! |
