Acatel 1000 and 3Mbps to 5Mbps connection...

I just upgraded to the 3Mbps to 5Mbps connection the other day and I'm only getting 2.2Mbps. I'm using my original Alcatel 1000 ADSL modem and just can't get the speed any faster.

The telco tested at the box getting 5.5Mbps. I ran a new CAT5 cable and jack to my modem. Still 2.2Mbps. Could the problem be the Alcatel 1000?

are you synced at the new speed (reported by the modem) and are only getting 2.2 mbps?

OR

are you still synced at the old speed?

If its the first, then you have a failed upgrade and your profile the SBC/AT&T's router needs to be rebuilt. its as simple as posting in »AT&T Direct and getting it resolved.

if is the second, then your order didnt go through correctly. in which case call them or post in AT&T direct as well.

The modem is synched (green light) but how can I verify that it is synched at the new speed?

I accessed the modem via the modem's IP address (10.0.0.138) and setting my IP address to:

IP: 10.0.0.1
Subnet: 255.0.0.0

There was only an option for Bridging and PPP/PPTP, of which PPP/PPTP was not available on the modem. Ther was no downstream option and no status page of any kind. I bought a 2Wire 1800HG modem off of Ebay to get something newer than what I have in case the modem is the problem. Won't have it for a few days though. ANy other suggestion for current modem?
