Can be a number of reasons but it happens with most if not all motherboards. It may be the board tops out at 2700 and yours is 3200 so you need to manually adjust it.<br><br>The same problem can occur with incompatible cas latency.  Disabling auto-detect in the bios sometimes helps.]]></description>

It is easier to get slower RAM/Earlier Revision RAM to work on newer boards than the other way around. <description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/321153"><b>jaypr9</b></A> : OK heres the deal, I was trying to upgrade my moms emachine pc with some more memory because the thing only came with 256mb of pc2700 ddr mem. Anyway I had some left over mushkin pc3200 and figured it should work, its faster memory so why wouldnt it. Popped in the memory and nothing happens just hear 3 long beeps and the system doesnt post at all.<br><br>I can pop in the other memory still and itll boot back up, question is why? Is it only compatably with 2700 memory or is there some other trick I can do? Do I have to buy only memory from emachines? Its a model t3624.]]></description>
