HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH

They must be out of there minds 100 $ and a 75 gb cap.

Why would anyone even consider buying this. what a joke.

Rogers is even gonna have a 18/1 config that has a 100 gb cap.

That is a terrible, you would think we would pay less for internet in Toronto but it seems people in more remote locations are paying less like in quebec.

The reason they can charge it is because there is no one else has this speed availible right now.
Thats it.
Rogers is comming but its not here yet.
Maybe the price will come down or the cap will go up AFTER rogers starts thier service.

Not available for me. I'm 1 minute away from my Remote CO, but I guess they havent upgraded the remote to support ADSL2+ yet. Or they just don't care much about South Scarlem.

Yes i think your remote needs to be upgraded because the new remote soon to be activated near me supports optimax.

What's the over-under on the number of posts in this thread before Hyper mentions Fios?

Funny how Rogers is coming out with 18 Mbps for $100... Are people still going to cut Rogers up so bad when the competition is doing this?

Well I'm not in Tronno, but when I plug in my phone number to their online form I get:
quote:
Our records indicate that you already are a Sympatico DSL Internet (i.e. High Speed, Basic, etc.) customer. [Doh! ]
* If you're looking to upgrade your service, you may do so in your Sympatico Self Care area. Log in to My Bell (upper right corner of this page) and click the Internet icon.
* To order an OptiMax access service, call:
Ontario: 1-866-753-8586 Quebec: 1-866-323-7512
and the Optimax tab offers me both 10 and 16 Mb/s service. Does that mean Optimax is now available outside of Tronno too?

Another thing. I'm on the 4000/800 profile because I'm too far away from the CO to get full 5Mb/s DSL. If I order Optimax will they move me to an RSLAM? And if so, if I cancel Optimax will they leave me on that RSLAM, i.e. is this a way to get faster HSE speeds?

(I'd consider Optimax more seriously if it weren't for that 60GB cap. I'm currently uncapped and I like it that way )

No, you cannot check for optimax avaiability through the web, you need to call in to check thats why the phone # is there...

I think the only way of knowing if its available is calling. I dont think the tabs mean anything.

Optimax is ADSL2+ or FTTH technology?

It uses FTTN (Fibre To The Node) technology to bring high speed fibre to the neighbourhoods, then ADSL2+ on regular copper to households.

Great speed offerings, the bandwidth cap is horrible though. They will need to offer at least 200gb/m before I will consider this as an "upgrade" to my Ultra service.

50gb on 10mbit and 75gb on 16mbit is useless. I thought we were over this whole bandwidth cap thing.

It seems to be making a comeback. What's currently absolutely retarded, is regular HSE is uncapped for the time being, but they are pushing Optimax for the high bandwidth user, and they are ridiculously low caps for the speeds they want to provide.

So, it does not like Verizon FIOS, which is FTTH(to your home). Then, I think it's just ADSL2+, which use Remote DSLAM closed to your home.

wow, i called that number and i have gotten the best customer service EVER. He Knew english, He Knew what the hell he was talking about and it just felt good by someone actually telling you the truth from tech support.

He told me pretty much all of montreal island has it and only one part of Toronto has it which is called Leeway? or Leeside? im not sure if that was it. and its also to see how people like it. its more of a test area. also he said tons and tons of people are calling about it. and he was told that bell WILL eventually be the fastest ISP in Canada in the near future and he is expected to see everyone upgraded in Toronto within 6months to one year. also he said that u have to have a line capable of having 7Mbit b4 they even consider upgrading you.

thats all i know. i hope this helps some people out

Sympatico can kid themselves all they want but look at what happened with beer and cigarettes. They kept on saying people would keep on buying beer and cigarettes in canada no matter how high the price went. Well they were wrong people stopped drinking and smoking. Sympatico will find out the same thing with their internet servcice. People in canada will just say to hell with it and get dial up from america.
