In that case I really can't think of anything other than possible the DSL signal is being interrupted or the router is defective. Did you have a basic DSL modem before the router or is this a new install and you're using the router over the ISP modem? I never installed a SMC router before so I don't know about its settings.

Also, leave the service name field blank. Putting the DSL service name in that field caused a problem on my D-link router.
