(Freq in MHz)/100 = dB loss per 100 meters of trees.

900/100 = 9 dB loss per 100 meters.

2400/100 = 24 dB loss per 100 meters.

5800/100 = 58 dB loss per 100 meters.

It isn't exact and there are better formulas but you can't do them in your head.

Trees ABSORB RF. There's no if's or but's about it. 900Mhz works better because it is less susceptible to trees. Plus 5.8 is used by many many cordless phones.

5.8GHz does not like things getting in it's way. What you are trying to accomplish requires 900MHz.... You went the wrong direction. Unless you need the exercise, you can give this a try but I will be surprised if you can even see the other radio. If this is for a backhaul, it needs to be open line of sight.
