1 edit | Re: Sigh said by Speedy8:I don't see why we can't just get a law passed where all companies have to include all fees and taxes in their advertised price. Because some fees vary by state. I know people may say hogwash, but it cost a lot of money to print different ads for different states.
For the vote, of course inaction. The general population really doesn't care about the fee, uploads, or what ever people like to rant about here. They'll just tell the FCC it's cheaper than cable. That will be all they need to say it's competition. That's our pro-business government at work. Different industry same story.
It's really to fund FiOS. When you are losing lines, you need every penny to can get to deploy FiOS before cable grows too dominant.

Irony. | |

Conservatives may argue it belongs to the people and liberals may argue that it belongs to the government. No side of the aisle is going to argue that it belongs to Verizon and/or BellSouth. Stealing from either the people or government won't be tolerated.

Instead of the FCC, shouldnt the FTC get involved? This isnt a communications issue, but a false advertising issue. Maybe the FCC has jurisdiction over all telecom issues regardless of functional domain?
In any event, as others have said, it doesnt matter if its "cheap" or if it varies from location to location...the point is that this needs to be included in the advertised price. I have a huge problem with the fact that the word fee gets used like it is somehow different from the word price. You get to add local tax, but otherwise it better be in the price or optional!

The FTC may also have jurisdiction and the IRS may very well be interested in this money grab as well. IMO the FCC started their investigation because of complaints from members of Congress.

This would make more sense to be a case of deceptive advertising and fall under FTC instead of the FCC. -- -- Join Red Room Forum BLOG tkjunkmail.blogspot.com My Web Page
