I work as a librarian and do research on the web. The first few times I was redirected, I wasn't pleased or mad. I was very confused. When I did figure it out, I was very angry. Making my computer redirect(and not just for typos) is invasive and intrusive. Additionally, after trying a few of the sites suggested, I feel insulted. None of the sites suggested were useful sites. Many were just advertisement web pages with even more lame links. Furthermore, the IP is taking advantage of those of little computer knowledge while getting their advertising dollars. Many of our patrons would simply think that they had a successful search. Sure, it's about the buck, but I should be at least warned first (and the suggestions of how to block it are simply over my head) |
