| MCI (alter.net) Piece of Garbage Seems this company is completely incapable of keeping a
consistant ping. From Seattle to Dallas, the ping has been slowly creaping up for that last six months over alter.net (which a whois shows the registrant as MCI). At one point
ealier this year, the ping down to Dallas from Seattle was
80 ms. NOW it's up to 103 with spikes over 110. This
wreaks havoc with gaming. As you can see from this trace
route, I have a fairly consistant ping to the seattle
gateway (I'm also miffed at qwest too, but for thier
interleave), but once it gets into alter.net, it goes
wild:

Why did it go up from 80ms earlier this year (which made
a major difference)? Why is it creaping up on an average
of about 1ms/week (it actually was at 80 for 2 weeks, then
up to 99 and has been going slowly ever since)?
