Whittier, AK | Looks like FCC might actually scare some folks. Say what you want but I think they didn't expect the reaction they got from FCC and rather than have to go thru the hassle they ate the fee. Look for Verizon to raise DSL prices in next couple of months to compensate for that.

I hope the FCC really starts nailing ISP's asses to the wall over hidden fees which are not included in the advertised price of service. It's the only way the industry is going to be honest with customers.

The FCC displeasure and implied threats got them to pull back. And the price probably will go up after the uproar dies down. Probably slip it in at Christmas time when no one is looking and the news will be buried.

Well if I were FCC Chairman I would push ahead with the investigation because these companies have already charged consumers for this bogus fee (which means that a crime was committed). It's that type of reaction from the FCC that will truly scare these bastards into rethinking their tactics. |

Personally i still think that Verizon is the best value out there. For me I pay Charter $42 (luckily picked up from my employer) for their 3mb/256k service. If I was any decent distance from the CO I would have their service. Love their tiers and network quality. I think Charter's network is subpar. |
