Simple Question?

Why don't WiFi vendors do what some DSL/Cable providers do, and lock the unit down with a password out of the box, and have that password written on the unit? Seems like an easy solution to me, and it doesn't require the Government to get involved.

Because some users aren't smart enough to setup WEP/WPA on the client end.
