Warez_ZealotRural land of the rising sun join:2006-04-19 japan | Too much $$$$$$$$$$$$ I'll pre order 2 or 3, and hope I can flip them on ebay.. lol If not, then I will return them back to the store. IMO $250 USD is a horrible ripoff for this. I say that only because it's basically a GC on steroids.
$175 would be the sweetspot. |

 | Good news for the xbox360.Only 50$ more for the xbox360 core which is alot better than a wii.And xbox has rockstar games too. |

 | reply to Redfreddy $250 seems like a lot for a repackaged gamecube with new controller. Shame on Nintendo!
XBox360 is sitting pretty for the next gen. |

 | reply to Warez_Zealot Well, a GC is $99.
Why wouldn't a GC on steroids be $250?
For $175 I'd expect a GC on herbal enhancements.
Anyway, isn't every new console generation just the last console generation on some form of steroids?
The Wii is 2.5 times the price of the GC.
The PS3 is 4.6 times the price of the PS2. (Yes, I'm comparing it to the fully loaded PS3, since the PS2 is fully loaded.)
I don't see how the Wii is a ripoff in comparison.
If the Wii was only a GC with new controls, I could see it as a ripoff. But that isn't the case. |

 | reply to nixen said by nixen:Nintendo historically has not wanted that kind of violence on their consoles. Then how do you explain the Resident Evil games, Blood Rayne, etc? |
|
1 edit | reply to smcallah The Wii uses the same CPU and GPU as the GC. They just shrunk the die size so that it runs "up to 20% faster". We have all seen the games. There is little to no difference IMO. |

Killing of fantasy characters (zombies, vampires, etc.) is a far different class of violence from killing humans or having sex with prostitutes - at least in some people's minds.

| reply to clocks11 has anyone here ever played games on the GC? I mean, I played Rebel Assualt and ResEvil 4 and I have to say, no lag! Good sound! (yeah, tiny discs, 2 sometimes). But all in all, it's a fun platform! And I can play with friends (older or same age) or with nieces and nephews (they beat me at Mario games! C'mon 2 out of 3?)
This Wii fills the niche left by Xbox and PS gamers. Price, gaming and fun. You want Hot Coffee? Get a PS3. You want to shoot aliens and beasts? Get a 360. Jeez, I sound like some marketing rep for Nintendo. Ok. Enough. |

Smash Bros. and Mario Kart are fun, but damn, real online play would be another step up. (and no, not the pitiful GC LAN controler function, that's just pure bunk) |
