We don't do News Corp in this house.
Maybe Murdoch's next move will be to divest his American Citizenship that he bought from the Republifreaks. |

Whoa ... you're implying Ted's CNN doesn't do the same thing with the opposite twist? Let them both report and let us decide. We're d--- lucky we have enough [current] press freedom to at least get two sides. Let us both hope we don't lose that because any time that Willie Bill wants to block a movie on ABC ... it's getting "scary," regardless if it was historically correct or not. |

 | reply to kamm Funny, CNN is the Clinton News Network even according to Democratic Strategists. Ted also married Jane "Treason" Fonda, and Ted has a perverse hatred for anything Christian. I thought it was funny Ted lost billions in the AOL mess. |

1 edit | reply to Gwailo you write...... "regardless if it was historically correct or not."a willingness to accept lies as an acceptable portrayal of historical times in our countries history is pathetic don't you think? even making a statement like that is frightening. you're saying as long as it suits my side of the argument it's fine because it is good entertainment and it's fun to see the other side trashed on tv.. how many people will watch something like that and believe it. you sir sum up what is wrong with this country. "your" side has this us against them mentality as if this were a football game. the blaming of one political party over the other is exactly the problem .... remember the constitution? "We the People?" "We"...... their lies hurt your side as much as the other. they can put out as much propaganda as they wish but not many people are buying it anymore. 37% approval rating. after all 9/11 happened on George Bush's watch, one month after he ignored a report from the CIA titled "Bin Laden determined to attack the USA" plus how they screwed up Katrina..... go ahead and flame me. I'm for America not one party and frankly I'm a bit tired of being lied to by the party that controls all 3 branches of government plus I'm tired of getting screwed. |

Well, how many times has FOX News been caught in a deliberate lie? How does it measure up against other news outlets when it comes to getting caught in a major news-related scandal (i.e., something akin to the New York Times and the Jayson Blair scandal, CBS and the fake memos scandal, etc.)
It seems all of FOX News' detractors who claim that their content is somehow "fake" often don't realize that compared to other "news" sources, their record is actually pretty clean. -- Only SHATNER is Kirk. |

Nope. Trying to find something else withing the last 10 years with no results. Just don't tel me that FOXNEWS is a news channel.
And you know why they have such high rating? Cause all Christian fascists (they have noting in common with Christianity) and right-wing zealots are watching ITS.
And we have lots of those individuals now as there is a favorable condition for them created by Bushists. |

How does it measure up against other news outlets when it comes to getting caught in a major news-related scandal (i.e., something akin to the New York Times and the Jayson Blair scandal, CBS and the fake memos scandal, etc.) Most of the lying is the distortion or selective presentation of fact rather than an outright lie reported as news... Fox apparently knows that outright lies will get you slapped down, but if you present the news with your agenda subtlety enough, you don't need to lie.
It seems all of FOX News' detractors who claim that their content is somehow "fake" often don't realize that compared to other "news" sources, their record is actually pretty clean. When it comes to outright lies, yes. But Fox doesn't need to lie outright. It has its "commentators" of the Hannity and O'Reily ilk to do it for them.
Why a news channel needs such programming is beside me because political hacks like Hannity, O'Reilly, Franken, etc. etc. have NO NEWS VALUE. So, why put them on a NEWS channel ?
Fact is, the state of news media in America is declining... Fox is as big of a problem as the others.
There's a reason news is now called news-entertainment. Its not longer about the reporting of the day's FACTS, its about political and personal agendas and the deliberate distortion and selective introduction of fact, or in some cases, out right lies, to further an agenda while keeping the people glue to their television through the use of sensationalism.
Its odd how the media in American seems to resemble the Politbureau more and more... -- Ann Coulter doesn't know jack about science... "Extremes to the right and left of any political dispute are always wrong." Dwight Eisenhower |
