Re: [Hockey] Are the Islanders for real?

Same organization who kept Dipietro over Luongo. This is a big year for both goaltenders and we will see what happens. What if the Islanders make the playoffs and the Canucks miss it? Then does it look like a good move?

Probably not still since there are 14 more years to go. But many teams go 15 years without a cup. If the Islanders win it once in that 15 years, is it worth it?

Yeah it is a risky move but not everyone is about playing it safe. The Islanders still could be right in their prediction of Dipietro being better than Luongo but only time will tell. Dipietro has not even been the Islanders problem over the past few years and last year despite the Islanders missing the playoffs he had his good streaks.

It's a gamble and anything can happen. No one expected Carolina to even make the playoffs at the start of last season.

Poor Ted Nolan. Then again, maybe he's thinking he can score a 20 year deal if he gets this team to the playoffs.
