The Xbox360 and alike devices are the best option. Why?
They are All-in-one devices. With my 360 and can play DVDs, download and store content, rip content to it, stream media from my pc, stream live tv, DVR control ………
That is all I have had for the last year just one box by my TV and I LOVE IT

kudos:1 | Call me old fashioned, but I don't see myself picking up any of these devices in the near future. I'll stick with my DVD player and either buy catalog films for about $ 10, or rent from Netflix.
My rented cable DVR is probably the closest I'll come to something like this. If I want my music in the living room, I hook my iPod up to the stereo input and run it that way...
