Using their version often lets you select a higher burn speed than the discs are rated for, but I've found that if you go too high with it, the error rate ends up increasing burn time.

It used to take about 7-8 minutes to burn an entire 4.7 size DVD. I tried a different firmware, a Mad dog version. Things went as slow as over an hour to burn one. Then I flashed to Liggy and Dee's, Burns now take 9-10 minutes. Could my burner be dieing, or is it the firmware?

I am perplexed, this firmware is supposed to speed things up.
