Channel 901

I think channel 901 in the Philly/South Jersey area is for comcast employee's. Just curious if any comcast employee can post a screen shot of what is on this channel.

It's too bad they can't hide this channel from the guide. I understand they don't hide the premiums so you can 'see what your missing', but obviously your not missing anything with 901 having no channel name and containing "To Be Announced" in the guide at half hour segments.

Its nothing big. They might broadcast company wide "messages" from Steve Burke,( "Great progress! We met our goals again thanks to you! Keep it up! Dont loose focus!" etc) introduce new products ( none that there isnt already a press release about somewhere else)
Each local area might put their own content on it as well.
Around here there is a little video for my region that shows employees waving hello and at their jobs. Kind of like a "we are all connected and we are all making a difference"
Its pretty much just employee PR.
I would think anyone else would be bored.

Out here 901 is MC , "Old School Rap".

Employees have an On Demand channel that is watchable in homes and on all office boxes.

I don't know, but I still think they should hide this channel completely from regular customers. Is that just not possible with the current i guide revisions? SA Sara and Passport have the ability to hide channels from the guide via the headend's discretion per account.

Its set up now by rate code just like the movie channels are. If you are an employee instead of PLATINUM or some such package it might say "EMPPKG" 0.00 and its that code that drives what is decrypted.
I wouldnt think one BAR item in VOD or one Channel in other systmes would cause such a headache.

The local engineers here must not know that since we get the "Technical Employees Channel" on channel 990, and a channel marked "TEST" on channel 790.

It's the video equivilant of passing out a paper internal memo. I really doubt the general public needs to know things like employee benefit programs, open enrolment, and like CT said, "good job" messages from Steve B. ....

Besides, that's all we need - another "thing" for people on this forum to throw "it's comcraptic" after...

In the past, this channel was used here in my system to explain how Digital Cable works, it was something like "Comcast and me".

Comcast has also used it to broadcast overflow of local sports, like when the Devils and Islanders are playing at the same time. The Devils would be broadcasted on the regular channel for Fox Sports New York, 99, and 901 would be used for the Fox Sports New York broadcast of the Islanders.
