kudos:1 | Like X-10 is the only one???? I have seen many different ones.... all in the exact same format (size, placement, etc)
This is a marketing company behind this somewhere not any individual business advertiser.
Problem with all the Pop Up stoppers is they kill all NEW windows calls, even ones I initiate. Though I would be glad to hear of one that doesn't

| Pop-up stopper lets you hold down CTRL while you click on a link with a javascript window opening call and it will let it open. It's not bad at all...if you click on a link you want and you see the stopper tray icon flashing, you know what's up and just hold down ctrl and click again and presto! |

I use AtGuard which does ad blocking through a list of http addresses (and it is a firewall too). It kills anything that is put into the list yet still allows new window calls. New ads can sneak through if they're not in the list, but usually all it takes is once for me. Not all popup killers necessarily work the same.

classmates.com is another one. They have a very good service, and I actually use their site quite a bit, but their pop-up spam windows are really quite annoying. |

Hold down the shift key when you call a new window and Pop Up stopper won't kill it. |

Here is how I block them. I just add their domain to my banned URL listing in McAfee Virus Scan. See the example below. |

ARRRGGGHHHH!!!! from any version of MacAfee I have ever used, MVS itself is far more of a virus that anything it might stop. Unless they have VASTLY improved it, it creates its own conflicts, is a pain to configure (or things just can't be done)... and uninstalling it is as bad as AOL.... little pieces and reg entries left lying all over.

I also use Pop-Up Stopper. I like the audio prompts it emits when clobbering pop-ups. Sounds kind of like a Star Wars battle at some P-U heavy sites.

You can also try POW! It keeps a list of window titles to zap. You will get pop-up's the first time, but never again after that, and it won't interfere with legitimate pop-ups.
