1 edit | USR5461 - DHCP not working I seem to be spending a lot of time in this forum lately and I'm starting to wonder if sticking with USR hardware was the right choice.
My 8054 router was resetting every 1-2 hours after about 2 yrs of use so I recently upgraded to a USR5461. It seemed to work ok out of the box except for some speed issues but it turned out to be some registry conflicts that a registry clean took care of.
I've had the 5461 plugged in for about a month. It seemed to be working fine.
However yesterday as I was playing with my old 8054 I realized the DHCP wasn't working. I couldn't pick up an IP address on either the LAN or Wireless connections.
I power cycled all my hardware and when everything came back up nothing would pick up an IP. My Vonage adapter, my desktop, 2 different laptops, - nothing no IPs.
- reflashed the BIOS and still nothing.
- unplugged the 5461 and let it sit for 30 minutes. Plugged it back in and everything worked fine. Vonage, desktop, laptops etc.
- about 1 hour later, no DHCP again. Laptops would not connect.
Are there any known heat issues with the 5461 that anyone is aware of? I realized that the desktop and vonage adapter had never been reset in the month it's been hooked up. The desktop always looked for the same IP with each reboot. So it's possible that 5461 has been doing this since the 1st day I hooked it up and I never recognized it.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?
