2000 users 6509 traffic policing

Hello,

I have a site with 2000 users, and a 60mbit sync internet connection. There are many 4006 routers behind the 6509, routing between all the different vlans and groups.

Internet has been causing issues, as certain users are using all the bandwidth at once. There is a internet traffic shaper upstream on the 6509, but it does not seem to be properly handling it.

Is there a way to limit each individual IP behind the 6509 to say only 3mbit max of internet, while still allowing full bandwidth for other network resources upstream the 6509? maybe using a rate-limiting, and in the access-list deny my upstream block of ip's from the list, and allow the rest to be including in the rate-limiting.

thanks!

If your 6509 is running Native IOS and SUP720 you can do user based rate limiting.

if your not using sup720 you can do microflow policing.

i am running not running sup720 in the 6509 on the boundry of this section of the network, but the next 6509 has a sup720. I should be able to do UBRL on this router.

This was exactly what I was looking for, thank you
