I have to agree with the fact that a SWAT team for this case its a bit overreacting. However, maybe there are cases where more crazy things have occurred in the past, or there may be some possible information to this criminal that it is not released to the public. I personally think it is better to be safe than sorry. As long as they did not overreact on the scene, and most importantly no innocent casualties then its simply a mistake that can be fixed.

I would like to assume there may be some other information that caused them to send out a SWAT team. It is hard to believe that this type of crime need a raid team with automatic weapons.

I would consider terrorizing an innocent family for 5 hours to be "overreacting on the scene." I would think at the point the team leader realised that the couple had 3 children they didn't know about, they would have realised something was up.
