Re: Spoecific regions of each city? Isn't Playa Vista in the GTE/Verizon territory? I thought I remember a few years back when GTE/Verizon was slapped by the CPUC for given freebies to the likes of Steven Spielberg and others for schmoozing those individuals over the Playa Vista area development?
The house I am sitting in today (and neighboring homes) in Pacific Palisades at Palisades Drive and Camino de Yatasto STILL cannot receive a DSL speed from Verizon higher than 1.5/384 since it's too far from the central office. As far as Fios for the Palisades...it's big dream.
As for lower income areas, usually when I travel to southern California from New York, I'll stay in Canyon Lake. Hell, Canyon Lake (a entirely gated relatively well-to-do area) can't get Fios, but next door, the lower income area of Lake Elsinore can. Go figure.
I don't buy the argument that just the "rich" areas are receiving exclusive deployment of Fiber. The telcos would get into too much trouble in California. |
