Good, it's about time for you guys. We had the premiums removed from analog for awhile now. Those boxes like clear max 2000/3000, Viewmax, etc... were real popular in our area when people could get three HBO's, two Cinemax's, Starz and Showtime all on analog scrambled systems. We still have 5 analog scrambled channels though, they are ESPN2, History, Golf, TCM, and VS. Can't wait till they are removed, we need all the space possible for digital and HD!
The DCII and PowerKey encryption systems are uncompromised plus the added benefit of digital compression is the way of the future. Luckily for Motorola, the DCII decryption algorithm is stored on the secure XC420061-006 microprocessor. Any probing can cause it to loose its memory and throw a box into E11 status. It will then have to be reprogrammed by Motorola itself. You can read and write to NVRAM all you want with BDM or JTAG connections, but no one will beat the XC decryption chip. |
