One need only supply a copy of the invoice instead of the requested receipt for a new PC preloaded with the qualifying OS (that will be upgraded to Vista) within the required time frame.
I personally called both newegg and Microsoft on this matter (surprisingly it didn’t take long):
So simply put:
Newegg: Supply the OS invoice (purchased within the promotion time frame) with the upgrade coupon and it will be honored.
Microsoft: The upgrade coupon will be honored as long as proof of purchase for the OS to be upgraded (within the promotion time frame) is provided (whether it be on a new PC or whether it was a stand alone purchase).
Paraphrasing a bit but since Microsoft is stating that they will honor such a purchase (proof of purchase) they are giving it their blessing so its all good!
