DSLX Line Monitoring SignUps

Justin has given us the ability to group line monitors together for the purposes of looking at single ISP. Members of a group get free, as in no TP deduction, line monitoring services for now.

»Re: I'm dedicating most code changes/improvements to ..

Would anyone be interested in this if I started a group for DSLX? You can find an example of an ISP group here.

Line monitoring is not very hard to set up. The FAQ about it can be found here.

Go get your line monitoring started, Bill. After you get it up, let me know and I'll send you an invite.

Also go to »/prefs/flair and select "My home connection" from the drop down list and follow the directions.

You get to be my guinea pig, Bill, to see if I can do this.

Here is a screen shot of how your line monitoring should be set up:

It will take a while for results to show. If you have a dynamic IP you will also need to use dynamic DNS client to "call home" (when it starts up or when it sees you have a new IP address) to tell us what the current IP is.

Here's the FAQ on that:

Our group is open for any site member with DSLX as their ISP. There is no limit to the number of group members. The more the merrier. I just need to know when someone has their line monitoring set up so that I can send an invite to them.

Go here to set-up line monitoring: »/schedule/signup/0

Now you need to go to »/prefs/flair and select "My home connection" from the drop down menu and enter your info there. It will appear by your graph like Bill's does.

I see you have to have a static IP unless you download an additional program or something. I don't have time for that stuff so I'll pass. Thanks anyway for the invite.

Stiofan, I'm sorry you changed your mind. I'm using DeeEnEss and it's really easy to use, if you change your mind. If you go to their site it says it's very small and very simple and no installation necessary.

Remember, it will take an hour or so for your graph to be populated. You also need to go to »/prefs/flair and select "My home connection" and enter the info there. It will appear by your graph so that others will know what service, etc you have.

Thanks for suggesting DeeEnEss. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to set up and I'd be willing to bet I spent less than 3 minutes on it from downloading to being ready to roll.
