Solved!

Problem in a problem.

Problem 1 when the monitor was canceled and restarted as a possible remedy I got a space into the static IP number
xx .xx.xxx.xxx

But that may not have been the real problem.

The real issue is that the dynamic IP box also needs to be checked even though I have a static IP number.

I really think your monitor wasn't working because your DNS client could not find your IP address for some reason. I want you the set up your monitor without using it.

You just need to do 2 things:

1) enter your current IP address in the static IP box AND 2) check the "dynamic" box. You must do both.

There is no need for third party software - if your IP changes, you can always edit your monitor to reflect the new IP.

Let's try this - take your DNS client out of the mix to test and enter your current IP address in the static IP box and check the "dynamic" box. Then click update monitor at the bottom of the page.

But for some reason your graph is not showing up. Check to make sure your router is set to accept WAN requests and that your firewall accepts ICMP pings. Also make sure you are using the current IP address.

1) enter your IP in the static IP box AND 2) check the "dynamic" box. You must do both.

Also make sure you click on the "Create Monitor" button at the bottom of the set up page.

You should also add your location in the Public Comment area of your monitor.

Make sure your router accepts WAN requests. Make sure you are pingable.

Let know if that works.

Make sure you also go to »/prefs/flair and select "My home connection" and enter the info there. It will appear by your graph so that others will know what service, etc you have.

Even had my old BEFSR41 ver 1 gave it away to a friend of mine and they've never seen any loss. Don't get me wrong I know they can go bad, I would look at bad cableing or a bad NIC card before looking at the Linksys. When I diagnose others I look at first system config next cableing then NIC's and finally the router/modem. 9 out of 10 times its the computer or the cableing.

But Now that I think about it, I had to disable some things in my router because someone broke my WEP and SSID and was leeching service of me and using bittorrent lagging my connection hardcore.

Not exactly sure what I changed as i had to reset the router and install new firmware to get WPA(AES).

At times the other line monitoring servers do this. I think they get tired and decide to take a break until someone notices and gives them a nudge. :D

I've been doing the line monitoring for almost 2 years now and have seen all them go on a break on and off - sometimes even for a couple of days.

There is no need for third party software - if your IP changes, you can always edit your monitor to reflect the new IP.

You just need to do 2 things:

1) enter IP in the static IP box AND 2) check the "dynamic" box. You must do both.

Make sure your router accepts WAN requests. Make sure you are pingable.

Make sure you also go to »/prefs/flair and select "My home connection" and enter the info there. It will appear by your graph so that others will know what service, etc you have.

You also might want to add your location in the Public Comment area of your monitor.
