Thank you!

One question, I put in the DNS server as 24.196.64.53 to start monitoring. Is this the correct setting for Charter?

should be whatever your ip is

The DNS setting is our current IP address? Will it affect anything if I left that portion blank?

i dont think it should im not sure charter seldom changes ip address anyway

Do you support RFC 2136 for Dynamic IP?

No, unfortunately we don't. We use standard http based services like dyndns.

That, I don't know.
You could experiment based off this FAQ entry: »Line Monitoring FAQ »Configuration of all dynamic DNS clients . Be sure to tell us if it works.

Hi,

will this tell me how much bandwidth i use a month?

cos charter still can't do that... all they can tell me is "contact our security team".. you would think it would kill them to spend a few bucks to have some geek code them a b/w monitor for their customers

I've got line monitoring running on my HSI now. I have a DHCP residential connection. I tried to set up OpenDNS Updater to keep my monitor updated like it does for OpenDNS which I use. How does one do this? I don't know where to begin with Updater.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with OpenDNS.

I don't use OpenDNS Updater nor am I familiar with it but does this help you at all:

Also you can do line monitoring without using it. You just have to remember to update your public IP address on your line monitor when it changes.

You just need to add your public IP address to the "Monitor this STATIC IP" and check the "Dynamic IP" box. You need to do both. Then click on update at the bottom of the page.
