 1 edit | Very noticeable speed increase on downloads 10 MB in size I think it is a very good perk for downloads of files most users typically do(those less than 10MB). Shareware program files; MS monthly updates; photos from web sites; emails with pics; etc often complete in 10 secs or less. And web pages with lots of multimedia content often snap on the screen much quicker.
But if you are doing Linux distros or downloading full length movies, a 10 or 20 sec burst of speed doesn't mean very much. But for the great majority of web users, the Powerboost increases are well liked.

USENET: 3x boost FTP: 4x boost (command line linux)
FTP seems faster. 25mbit/sec for the first 15 megs. and then it goes back to line speed (6 mbit/sec)
